Full Itinerary
Day 1:Arrival at Entebbe Airport and Welcome to Uganda and afternoon Mabamba Swamp Cruise
Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, our representative will meet and pick you up before driving you to your hotel in Entebbe for check-in.
At the hotel, you will receive your room assignment. Typical hotel amenities include a restaurant, bar, outdoor swimming pool, and fitness center. Rooms are likely to feature air conditioning, satellite TV, wireless Internet, and a private bath with a hairdryer.
If your flight arrives in the morning, an optional activity is available in the afternoon. After going through and confirming the itinerary with our representative, you will be assisted with your afternoon activity—a Mabamba Swamp Boat Cruise.
The tour begins with a boat ride across Lake Victoria to Mabamba Swamp. From here, you will transfer into smaller canoes with experienced guides to explore the swamp in search of the Shoebill Stork, one of the most sought-after birds in Uganda.

The boat cruise across Lake Victoria offers stunning views of Entebbe, the airport, and surrounding landscapes. As you approach the swamp, you'll pass through a breathtaking lagoon filled with diverse wildlife and lush scenery.

Day 2:Kampala – Kibale National Park
After an early breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and depart at 7:15 AM for a 4-hour scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park.
On the way, we will make a stop in Fort Portal, a charming town known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Highlights include:
- The Toro Kingdom Palace – A historical landmark showcasing the heritage of the Toro people.
- The Royal Tombs – Resting places of past Toro Kings.
- Local Markets & Shops – A great place to experience the local way of life.
- Fort Portal Mosque – A significant religious site in the region.
From Fort Portal, we continue a short distance to Kibale Forest, which is home to the highest number of primates in East Africa, including chimpanzees, baboons, black & white colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys.
Afternoon Activity: Primate Walk at Kanyanchu River Camp
After checking in at the lodge, you will embark on an exciting primate walk at Kanyanchu River Camp. This guided trek takes you through diverse flora zones and offers opportunities to spot a variety of wildlife, including different primate species and other forest dwellers.
After the walk, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3:Morning Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer back Entebbe
After an early breakfast, prepare for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest.
The trek begins at Kanyanchu, where expert guides will lead you through the forest in search of chimpanzees. Along the way, you might also encounter other primates such as:
- Golden Monkeys
- L’Hoest Monkeys
- Baboons
- White & Black Colobus Monkeys
- Grey-cheeked Mangabey
- Red Colobus & Blue Monkeys
- Pottos (a nocturnal primate species)
Apart from primates, Kibale Forest is also home to unique wildlife such as:
- Forest Elephants (distinct from the common savanna species)
- Giant Forest Hogs
- A variety of rare tree species
After the trek, enjoy a delicious lunch before embarking on a return drive to Entebbe, arriving in the late evening. Check in at your hotel for an overnight stay.

What You Should Know Before Traveling
1. Visas and Entry Requirements
- Visa Requirements: Ensure you have a valid passport with at least six months of validity. Most East African countries (Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania) require a visa for international travelers. You can apply for a single-entry visa or the East African Tourist Visa, which allows travel between Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya on a single visa.
- Visa on Arrival: Some nationalities can obtain visas on arrival, but it's best to apply in advance for convenience.

- Required Vaccinations: In addition to Yellow Fever, it’s recommended to be up-to-date with routine vaccines such as Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Tetanus.
- Malaria Precaution: Malaria is prevalent in many areas of East Africa. Travelers are advised to take anti-malarial medication and use insect repellent with DEET, especially in rural areas.
- COVID-19 Guidelines: Ensure you check the latest COVID-19 travel restrictions and vaccine requirements, which may vary from country to country. Always carry a mask and sanitizer.

- General Safety: Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania are generally safe for tourists, but it's important to stay vigilant. Avoid displaying valuables, and always travel with your guide or tour group.
- Wildlife Safety: When participating in safaris, always follow your guide’s instructions. Keep a safe distance from animals and never leave the vehicle unless instructed.
- Health Insurance: Make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, evacuation, and activities like gorilla trekking or safaris.
4. Packing List
- Clothing: Pack lightweight, breathable clothing for daytime activities, and warm layers for cooler nights, especially in high-altitude areas like Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.
- Footwear: Comfortable hiking boots are essential for trekking, while sandals or casual shoes work well for city exploration.

5. Weather and Best Travel Times
- Rwanda and Uganda: The best time for gorilla trekking is during the dry seasons, from December to February and June to September. Expect cool mornings and evenings, with pleasant daytime temperatures.
- Kenya and Tanzania: The best time for safaris is from June to October, during the dry season, when animals gather around water sources, making wildlife viewing easier.
- Packing for the Seasons: Dry season (June–October) is great for wildlife viewing, while the rainy seasons (March-May, October-November) bring lush landscapes but may make some roads impassable.
6. Currency and Money Matters
- Local Currency: Rwanda uses the Rwandan Franc (RWF), Uganda uses the Ugandan Shilling (UGX), Kenya the Kenyan Shilling (KES), and Tanzania the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS).
- Foreign Currency: U.S. Dollars are widely accepted, especially for larger payments like park fees and accommodations. However, smaller transactions should be made in local currency.
- ATMs and Credit Cards: ATMs are available in major cities, but it’s advisable to carry cash, especially when traveling to rural areas. Credit cards may not be widely accepted outside major hotels.
