Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda. Our tour representative and your driver/guide will meet you at the Kigali International Airport. After a short briefing, we stop in town for some coffee and thereafter proceeding to Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Kigali Genocide memorial experience is extremely moving, challenging, educational and ultimately inspiring. The tour is very transparent and educational but very sombre and humbling when you realize that over 25,000 deceased are buried on the site of the memorial. Guaranteed you will feel every emotion during this visit.
After the visit at the genocide memorial, you will embark on your safari vehicle and drive to Musanze for a 2.5 hours scenic transfer to Volcanoes National Park which takes in some stunning views of the Land of a Thousand Hills. Arriving in Volcanoes National Park, we will take you to your hotel check in, freshen up and relax with the Hotel facilities.
Today you have a unique and privileged experience to trek and meet at close quarters the rare Mountain Gorilla. There are only around 1000 of these magnificent creatures left in the world with around 1/3 of those in the volcanoes national park.
Early in the morning after breakfast you will be taken to the park headquarters where you will be educated on the trek, Gorilla behaviour and assigned in to groups of suitable fitness. The trek can take between 2-6 hours depending on the movements of the Gorillas. This is considered one of the great natural animal encounters on the planet.
The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour once you find them.
Return to the lodge for lunch and refreshment, later in the afternoon take a short trip to visit the Ellen De Generes Campus, part of Gorilla Fund Organization. Get to learn the works done by the gorilla doctors in Rwanda in conserving and taking care of the gorillas while in their natural habitat.
Afterwards, we’ll set off for a 2hrs drive back to Kigali arriving early afternoon, you’ll proceed to the airport for your departure flight back home.
